Called To Heaven

Saturday morning, October 5th, my Dad went home to be with the Lord.  Although we knew it was coming, it still was and is hard.  As we gathered together in Pennsylvania and sorted through pictures, we found ourselves laughing and crying by turn.

He was a wonderful storyteller, and friends and family had many stories to share.  His woodcrafts and drawings are literally everywhere.  A few days before he passed, he mailed an envelope with a few of his best drawings to my youngest son.  It came while we were gone, and I haven’t been able to open it yet.

Like I said, it’s hard.

Today, I thought I would just share a few of my favorite pictures that we came across.

20131010_130619-1I’m told he has always been ornery, lol!

Christmas 1970Here we are again, Christmas 1970.  Dad’s still ornery.  I look a little distracted.  But I’m loving my brother’s big ears.  :)  And Mom is beautiful.

My family would appreciate your continued prayers as we adjust.  We sure will miss him.

The thought of your dad mailing an envelope to your youngest before he passed has me tearing up. I wouldn't be able to open it yet, either.
These are wonderful photos, telling quite a good story about your dad, but also about your family. The photo of you as a baby on his lap could have been pulled out of my family's album. Oh, the paneling, the hair, the clothes. Awesome.
I have been praying and will continue to pray for you all. Find strength and comfort in God and each other.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing, but the comfort of knowing he is in perfect health is wonderful! The package he mailed makes me cry just thinking about it.
Will keep you all in my prayers.

Hugs to you. <3 I can't imagine losing my dad. I'll be praying that in the days to come you will feel God's love and presence and that you will find comfort and healing.
