Mission Trip: Prayer Request

boys home

The youth group arrived home Sunday around noon.  By all accounts, the trip was a wonderful experience—until the very end. In a freak accident, one of the leaders (and father of a youth in attendance) was seriously injured.  Apparently one of the heavy bunks collapsed on top of him.

The group, already exhausted from a long hot day of work, waited at an Alabama hospital through the wee hours Sunday morning.  Eventually, they had to travel home without him.

His wife went down and brought him home last night.  Please pray with us as she takes him to Indianapolis today to see an eye specialist and plastic surgeon.  His spirits are good, and he’s just thankful it happened to him and not one of the kids.  He’s such a good guy!

I don’t know why these things happen.  But our God is nonetheless still in control.  And we know He has a plan!

Pray for the leader.  That God would lead him and his wife to the right surgeons and then give them wisdom in the coming days and weeks.

Pray for the kids who were on the trip.  That God would continue the work he started in them and use the accident for His glory.

And praise God for all the work the group accomplished!  The family they helped was super thankful and appreciative.

What a crazy thing! It's a blessing that he has a good attitude - it's a testimony to those youth. Will be praying for him and his family.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! This happened to me on my last Lightrider trip!

I wasn't the one crushed, I was the one doing the crushing. I was on the bunk over Mike, the Lightrider guy, and in the middle of the night, while I was sound asleep my bunk suddenly dropped right down on top of him WITH ME STILL ON IT.

I thought I'd killed him - - - but evidently he wasn't hurt at all because we continued on with our trip with no ER visits or anything.

There are little "locks" on the sides of those beds and if one of the kids is absent mindedly fiddling with them they can get unlocked and then the bed can fall.
