What Are You Thankful For Today?

It’s picture time!

One of my friends, who has a little boy at our bus stop, took this picture.

Kindergarten First day

Doesn’t my little guy look “ready” for his debut in the world of Kindergarten?  :)  And don’t I look composed??

I must say, we were both very brave.

It helped that he had three big friends to look out for him on the bus.

However, after that bus turned around and was pulling back onto the highway, my composure threatened to fly away.

My little baby was leaving me behind and going off to kindergarten.  For a WHOLE day.

Time passed surprisingly quickly, though.  A friend of mine was heading out to do some work at her mom’s house, and I volunteered to go along.

Her mom passed away several months ago, and she is getting the place ready to sell.  So we spent the day cutting back overgrowth  and cleaning up the yard.

We had a great time visiting while we worked, and the distraction was just what I needed.

But I still prayed all day.

Help my little guy have a good day, Lord.  Help him to make friends and be a good listener.  Let him be excited about his day when he gets off that bus.

Yeah!

And look at this!

That smile totally made my day.

And you know what else?  He made this for me at school.

Smile

“That’s me, smiling,” he said.

So, today, I’m thankful for a bunch of things.

  • For friends.  For one who stood by me at the bus stop, and offered to go get me a tissue from her house.  For another whom I was blessed to be able to work with all day.  And for all of you who prayed for him (and me!).
  • For a kindergarten teacher who gave my little guy the gift of a wonderful first day.
  • For a little boy my son made friends with.
  • And for answered prayer.

What are you thankful for today?

It's always nice to see a smile when they return. It was when the smiles quit coming that I had to move in a different direction with my daughter.
It's hard either way. But he looks like such a big boy!
Have a glorious day my friend.

Awesome! We will be homeschooling, but I smiled with both joy and a few tears the other day when my son was showing extreme independence at an event we were at. How could he be so big when he was just the size of his infant brother not long ago. how time flies and God blesses us each day! Wishing your child a beautiful, blessed year of school!

His smile, coming from that bus, makes my day. I have a grandson who entered kindergarten this year too. My prayer is that his face will also look like that each day.

I am so thankful to have found this Thankful Thursday blog hop. I needed a kindergartner's smile more than I realized.

I can honestly say I am thankful for this post. Seeing the smile on his face brought a big smile to mine. I'm so glad his first day went well!

So glad it was such a positive experience all around.

As a teacher in the elementary schools (NYS) our main focus when our littlest ones come thru the door from the buses (the first couple of weeks of the new school year) is to help them safely get to their rooms, learning as they go, and help them feel safe and cared for.

It is a great job to have! We don't start for a couple more weeks!

Good job keeping it together! I think I would have been a blubbering fool. I love the smiley face. Makes it all worth it, I'm sure.

Have a blessed day!
