Father Of Lights: DVD Review And Giveaway

Today, I finished watching a DVD that I agreed to review several weeks ago.  I chose to watch it without the kids for the first time and I’m not sure if I’ll view it with them or not, yet.  It’s not your average Christian family film.

In fact, part way into the film, I realized it was going to be a difficult one to review.  I think it’s safe to say that it took me on a journey far outside of my comfort zone and challenged me to let God out of my little box.

The film title is Father of Lights released October 15th by Wonderlust Productions.  And it chronicles filmmaker Darren Wilson and his team as they fearlessly travel the globe, far from the daily existence of the typical evangelical believer in the West. By thoughtfully documenting the stories of extraordinary believers and candidly filming miracles, visions and other supernatural occurrences, Wilson engages viewers in modern day examples of the true nature and character of God.

You can see a trailer for the film here.  And check out their facebook page, here.

As a Christian, I know that God is active in the world today.  And I know that He intervenes and answers prayer.  But in this film, we see open miracles and healings which, quite frankly, made me a little uncomfortable.  Not because I don’t believe they happen, but because they are outside of my experience.

I’m glad I saw the film.  It is definitely powerful.  And I would like my husband to sit down and see it when he has time to watch it with me.  Furthermore, I would love to know what you think if you have had the opportunity to see it.

Thankfully, as I was looking up more background information, I came across another blogger’s review.   She so beautifully and artfully puts into words what I am struggling to write that I’m simply going to link to her post.  I would love for you to go on over and read her review.  She does an awesome job.

If you are interested in seeing the film for yourself, please indicate so in a comment.   There will be one copy available for me to give to one of my readers.

After reading the other woman's review, I have a feeling I'll need a whole box of Kleenex to watch it. Put my name in the hat, please.
