Bissell Natural Sweep: Does it Work?

Bissel Natural Sweep

This little hand powered “vacuum” has mixed reviews. People either love them, or hate them.

We purchased one last year mainly so my boys could clean up the little messes that spontaneously happen. (Don’t you love it?)

It has brushes on the underside that roll as you go, flicking dirt up into little compartments. You can then empty the compartments over the trash can.

Since our dust buster only has so much battery life, and the dust pan often gets dumped before making it to the trash can, we were hoping this would make it easier. And making it easy for the boys to clean up after themselves works for me, seriously.

The handle comes in segments which you have to put together. Like other reviews I read on Amazon, mine fell apart a few times at first.

But after my husband put it together with a little more power (heh-hem), it has stayed together just fine. :)

I now use it often to run over the high traffic areas.

It is great to pick up the little pieces of dirt and wood debris that happen when you have a wood burning stove. It is SO much easier than dragging out my canister vacuum.

I also use it around the washer and dryer to pick up the tissue pieces that “no one” ever leaves in a pocket.

It works on hard floors as well as low carpets. But I think it does a better job on carpets.

It isn’t a replacement for your electric vacuum. But, in my opinion, for those times between cleanings it does a pretty good job!

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I’m thinking of getting one for my mom and dad. They have a wood stove and I think they would find it convenient.

Walmart has them for $26.88 on line. But it may be cheaper at your local store. We got ours for $19.99. So if you are looking for a gift idea, as odd as it may seem, this might be a great idea!

Sigh... Now I just need to get a woodburning stove! My neighbor was unloading a pile of wood onto his porch last night as I was running out somewhere, and I could smell the woodsmoke when I came home. I love that smell. Someday! Thanks for sharing.

It looks like a handy thing to have around.
