Before And After Pictures: Sunroom Door Replacement

Some of you might remember our door replacement project in the sun room which we use as a play room.  Well…

It’s finished!

In case you missed my earlier posts, here is a before picture.

old sun room doorThe old doors were poorly installed basic models.   They were hard to open and shut and we rarely used them.  In fact, I put tape completely around the edges to keep out the bugs and drafts.

No more of that!

Yesterday, I measured, cut, and hung the trim around our new patio door.

Don’t look too closely.  I’m not a master craftsman.  I’m just a mom who was ready to clean up the construction debris and get on with the decorating!  Lol! The pre-primed trim and corner pieces from Lowes made it pretty easy!

Here’s the new door, all finished.  And decorated!!

The new patio door lets in SO much MORE light, and makes the room feel even bigger than it is.  Can you picture a nice deck through there?  (That is a project we hope to tackle next year.)

Not only can we use the door now, but already it is making a noticeable difference in how warm the room stays.  Since we went with the Low E glass, we’ll be able to get a big chunk of our purchase price back at tax time, too!

It feels wonderful to have this project behind us!

Now, I’m all about last minute shopping for my husband’s birthday tomorrow.  He bought some things for himself last week, but where’s the fun in that?

So, as soon as the boys get home from school, we’re off to the local Rural King.  (It’s kind of like a Tractor Supply Store for those of you who don’t have one nearby.)  It is EVERYMAN’s favorite store and BOUND to have something he needs!

It’s a very good idea to change it into a two-pane glass door. It does not only give enough lighting for the room, but it also allows to see and feel the beautiful ambiance outdoors. Plus, the plants give a fresh tone to the room. It’s an amazing transformation. Great job!
