Family Update

For those of you who prayed for my middle son not to come down with the bug, thanks!! He seems fine and was able to go along on the winter retreat with his friend and the group. They had a great time!

My little guy, though, is still fighting something.

Friday night, he broke out in spots and a fever again, and I thought at first it might be chicken pox. Although he had the shots, I know it is still possible. Both my other two boys got it, and they had shots. I even had chicken pox twice, myself.

Only in this case, I don't know of anyone else who has had it, and the doctor's office didn't think it was going around.

We gave him some antihistamine and Advil and it seemed to relieve his symptoms, but then he work up with more yesterday morning. Again, we gave him some otc meds, and he seemed to get a little better.

But then last night, in the course of an hour, he turned into a mass of hive-like spots--the worst yet. We gave him some more antihistamine, stripped him down, cooled him off, and I sat up with him till I was sure that he seemed to be getting no worse. He was running a low fever.

I then got up in the middle of the night to repeat the antihistamine and he seems much better this morning. Just a few spots remain, and his lips are still a little swollen. But I can't for the life of me figure out what's causing it.

I can think of nothing that we've done differently. No new products we are using. No odd foods. If it's an allergic reaction, would there be fever with it, like what he has?

Keep us in prayer. We're just kind of watching him today.

Why do those weird things ALWAYS happen on a weekend??

Did they check him for Fifth Disease, that often leave a weird rash and has a fever.
Hope he is feeling better, and praying that no one else gets it.....sick kids is always hard for the mom. :)

Not sure if my first comment posted or if it just flew off into cyberspace??

Hope he is feeling better, it's always tough on moms when their kids are sick.
Praying for all of you. :)

Thanks for the suggestion, Sandy. They didn't check him for Fifth disease. But the rash didn't fit the norm for fifth disease, and he had no cold like symptoms.

It appears to have been an allergic reaction to something, though we are clueless as to what. The fever may have been coincidental since there are so many things going around.

He's doing well today. (Yeaaah!) No fever. Just a few spots. I'm keeping him on antihistamine to make sure he is all cleared up. Then we'll do a process of elimination.

All your prayers are so appreciated!!! Being a mom is so hard sometimes!
