Looking For His Grace

Over the last few days, I've felt a growing urge to pray for God's hand in our nation's election.

This morning, I found myself in 2 Samuel looking at David's urgent and pleading prayer for his child. He had repented from his sin and understood the consequences Nathan outlined, yet still, he begged God for mercy. As long as there was a chance his child might live, David pleaded.

I think that's how I feel about our country. As a nation, we have allowed things to go on that grieve the heart of God. His justice, therefore, may be to let our nation suffer the consequences. As my husband keeps saying, one day, we are going to get what we deserve.

For my children's sake, and our own, I pray for God's grace, and our wisdom.

Our choices for leadership are not perfect, just as we are not perfect. And while things may look bleak for the one choice we have as Christians, God is still on the throne. He is still a God of Grace, and He is certainly capable of moving His people to affect the outcome of this important election. So, while there is hope, we need to pray, and plead, and beg for God's grace.

Do you feel this same urgency?
