My parents live in a two story 18th century farm house and their bedroom has always been on the second floor. About 3 or 4 years ago, we helped them turn the original living room/parlor (downstairs) into a small bedroom. We were able to just barely squeeze in two twin beds.
Although they chose not to use it then, we figured it would be there if or when they needed it.
A year or so later, they decided to knock a hole in the wall of that room into the laundry room and convert the laundry room into a full bath.
Over the last week, Mom has been working to get the room ready for the day she hoped Dad would be able to come home.
That day came yesterday! After the latest round of blood tests, the doctors gave my Dad the green light to go home! They will continue to monitor things closely through visiting nurses and physical therapists, but he is very glad to be resting at home.
His goal is to gain enough strength to be able to walk into the oncologist’s office and tell her he is ready for more chemo.
Only God knows the future. However we are thanking him for the blessings at hand...
- A set-up Dad can be comfortable in downstairs
- Visiting health-care workers to keep tabs on him
- Friends and relatives who visit and break up his days
- The rest that he and mom will be able to get more easily at home (if they make the adjustment from sleeping in a king size bed, to sleeping separately on those tiny twin beds!)
I’m also thankful for Spring! We had several days where the temps hit 60 degrees. And I saw a few robins over the last three weeks. But this morning I had my surest sign of spring yet. A bluebird came fluttering down my stovepipe. It happens every year at least 3 or 4 times.
Bluebirds are so pretty!
What are you thanking God for this Monday?

I love bluebirds, but have never had one come into the house. :)

Very thankful that even in hard times there are bountiful blessings to be had.
